Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CourtMate ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the CourtMate iOS app. By using CourtMate, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (if you sign up with email), or the identity information shared when you use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
- Profile information — your gender, tennis skill level, match preferences (such as preferred match types and opponent gender preferences), and an optional profile photo.
- Content you create — match requests, scheduled matches, and messages you send to other players through in-app chat.
Information collected automatically:
- Location — with your permission, we use your device's location to show nearby courts and players. You can disable location access at any time in iOS Settings; some features may not work without it.
- Usage and device data — basic technical information such as device type, app version, and diagnostic data used to keep the app running reliably.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account.
- To match you with other players based on skill level, preferences, and location.
- To let you schedule matches and communicate with other players.
- To show courts near you.
- To process and manage your CourtMate Premium subscription.
- To improve the app, fix bugs, and provide customer support.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. What other players can see
CourtMate is a matchmaking app, so parts of your profile are visible to other users: your name, profile photo, gender, skill level, and general activity such as match requests you post. Your email address and precise location are never shown to other players.
4. Services we rely on
CourtMate uses trusted third-party services to operate. These providers process data on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Storage) — hosts your account, profile, matches, and messages. See Firebase's privacy documentation.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and all subscription payments, which are handled entirely by the App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
- Google — Google Sign-In, if you choose it as your login method.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your profile, matches, and messages from our systems, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/EEA under GDPR or California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.
7. Security
Your data is stored with Firebase and protected in transit with encryption (HTTPS/TLS) and with access controls on our backend. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
8. Children
CourtMate is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
